I blog for a few different reasons: to get the word out about community events, to promote myself as a Bellingham real estate broker, as a place to share photos, and just as a general outlet to the world. First and foremost though, I do it as a hobby. And like all hobbies, sometimes the blog gets a lot of attention and sometimes it does not. The past few weeks were the ‘not’ weeks. I hate to feel obligated to post, and sometimes I just want a little break- so I took one!
I think that I will pick it up more in the days to come. As always, thanks for visiting!

The Fairhaven Ladies of the Evening Society always makes an appearance at Fairhaven's Dirty Dan Days
It must be springtime in Bellingham, because all of a sudden there are so many weekend events! An annual favorite is Dirty Dan Days in Fairhaven, a celebration honoring Fairhaven’s founder, Dirty Dan Harris. It’s coming up this weekend, April 30th and May 1st, 2011.
Dirty Dan was a notorious rum runner and owner of much of Fairhaven in the 1800′s. There is an uphill piano race is inspired by the legend of Dirty Dan repossessing his piano and rolling it into the bay when the buyer wouldn’t pay up.
There will be live music in the Fairhaven Village Green, as well as family-friendly games and contests. There will be a salmon toss on Saturday and a chowder cookoff on Sunday. Period dress is encouraged!
For more information, including a full schedule, take a look at the Fairhaven website.

These two men tied in the Dirty Dan Harris lookalike contest at last year's Dirty Dan Festival.
